Only purchase Annual Upgrade Protection (AUP) if your software licence has expired within the last 31 Days, otherwise you must purchase an Upgrade from a previous version (8, 9, 2009 or 2010) to version 2011!
When you first purchase a product you will automatically get free upgrades and telephone support for a year after purchase, to keep getting upgrades and telephone support after that first year you have to have 'Annual Upgrade Protection' (AUP).
Annual Upgrade Protection is optional you are under no obligation to purchase it, indeed after the first year you can continue to use the product for as long as you like, with no further payment. Note, support is only via email when you have no valid Upgrade Protection. After the expiry of your 'Annual Upgrade Protection' you have period of two weeks to purchase the next year's, after which time you should purchase an Upgrade Licence. If you purchase Upgrade Protection (for the second year) when you first buy the product you get a 10% discount on the cost of the second year's Annual Upgrade Protection!
Note AUP (Annual Upgrade Protection) can be purchased by existing users to extend a current valid support contract for an additional 12 months. This may only be purchased during the current valid contract period and up to 31 Days after the origional expiry date.
